Indigo Shire has awarded almost $100,000 through its various grant programs to a range of local community and sporting groups and organisations.
Twenty-one community organisations will receive a portion of the total $50,000 available through the Indigo Shire Community Grants program.
Every applicant for the program in the 2021-2021 round was successful, with the funding going towards supporting the work of a variety of groups across the Shire and encouraging volunteer participation in community groups.
A total of $12,500 will be distributed through the Indigo Shire Community Events Program, with the remaining $2,500 out of the $15,000 budget to be allocated to the Community Comeback Project. The Community Events Grant Committee recommended that Council provide funding to seven of the 11 applications, with unsuccessful applicants provided with alternative funding suggestions and support from the Community Development Team.
The Community Events Grant Program provides an opportunity to support social and cultural activities for community groups across Indigo Shire, while the Community Comeback Project assists with the development of community-led events in across the Shire, that focus on reconnecting and celebrating our towns as we recover from the 2020 Bushfires and COVID19.
The 2020-2021 Tourism Event Grant Program will see a portion of a total $30,000 awarded to events such as the Shifty Fifty, the National Busking Championships and the Gaol House Rock, which will all add to the further development of Indigo Shire’s rich calendar of festivals and events.
